I checked out some band photography groups on Flickr, etc, but they all seemed a tad bit cliche (or started looking very much alike).
The group wanted 'casual' photographs, so I went with some very basic group shots. Due to a misunderstanding on my part, I thought we only had a short amount of time before the band had their scheduled practice. It turns out that they had scheduled the shoot in leiu of their band practice, so I could have gone for other backdrops and scenes. However, it seemed much of the band was grateful for cutting out of posing for me earlier than anticipated. LOL

However, the band members were very gracious and very patient as I set up strobes around them in the late afternoon sun.
I had pre-planned a few of the poses and general group shots. Earlier that week, I had scouted out a few places for potential group band shots. Some locations didn't pan out, as the sun had moved too much into the horizon more so than I had anticipated for some locations, but luckily, I had about a half dozen spots that I saw as potential locations for the band.
It helps to scout out areas ahead of time and do a little pre-planning in order to make things go a little more smoothly.
