Real Estate Photography

I've been working with Scott Hargis on real estate photography, and I've been learning a lot from him.

Yesterday, we went to a house in Berkeley to work on a shoot for a house coming onto the market. It was being staged, but the staging was not yet complete so we were only able to do 80% of the house (1st floor and parts of the second floor).

We rotated on each of the rooms; Scott starting in the dining room, me in the living room. My 3rd strobe started having issues and would not fire, but luckily, most of the rooms only required two lights with the nice white high ceilings acting as bounce.

Living Room

It was a beautiful house with hardwood floors, lovely archways, and nice ceilings providing a lot of light bounce. The windows also provided a lot of ambient light coming in from outside. The stagers had done a good job with the house. It was only a shame they weren't done so we could finish up the rest of the house during the shoot. Scott was going to return later in the afternoon after the stagers completed the last three rooms, while I had to run back to the office.

It was a fun shoot, and Scott showed me a few things I wouldn't have even considered when bouncing light, which I'm going to use for the next time.
